Anytime we go south of Siena, in Montepulciano or the Val d’Orcia, or any other beautiful place there, we usually take the highway from Florence and take the exit for Valdichiana. The lunch at the Restaurant of Nonna Rosa is a must! The restaurant is located in front of the A1 motorway exit “Chiusi-Chianciano Terme”, more precisely in the village of Chiusi.
Its location is convenient, being on the road leading to Montepulciano, and we usually arrive there at lunch time, so it’s great!
The restaurant serves excellent dishes of the typical and traditional Tuscan cuisine, from Florentine steak and wild boar to tagliatelle with ragù and lasagne.
Among the restaurant’s many specialities you’ll find homemade pasta like the famous pici, grilled meat, and home made cakes and desserts.
The atmosphere is then very cosy and relaxing, the ambience is furnished great attention to details, with original pieces of furniture.
The restaurant is in fact peculiar as it is rich in collections of old and ancient objects, like old radio, cameras, irons, vespa, motorbikes, and much more, a real vintage museum! There’s also a fantastic Fiat 1100 of the 1958 and an old 500! You can even eat within the car for a special meal!
That’s one of the best restaurants I’ve tried 🙂
