In my 2 weeks itinerary around Tuscany, I suggest San Gimignano as a great 2nd location as base. Of course also the Chianti area can be ideal. San Gimignano is still part of the Chianti territory tough located west of it. I probably suggest San Gimignano as I particularly love that area and its scenic countryside, from where it’s also convenient to reach other Tuscan destinations like Lucca, Pisa, and Volterra.
