Hi Elena,
I’m planning my road trip from Rome to Florence in this October. My target of this trip is to take the photos of beautiful view of Tuscany. In fact, I’ve already read your advice on
“An itinerary from Rome to Siena, Florence and Cortona in Tuscany”.
It is very useful and helpful. Then, I decided to follow your advice. So, my plan is
Day 1 (Tue): Rome – Orte – Orvieto – Civita di Bagnoregio – Lake of Bolsena – Pitigliano
Day 2 (Wed): the ancient historic Via Cassia (SR2) – stay overnight at San Quirico d’Orcia
Day 3 (Thu): Crete Senesi – Seina
Day 4 (Fri): San gimignano – Florence
Day 5 (Sat): go back to Rome
Do you have any further advice on my plan?
Before I found your advice trip, I made booking the hotel for the first day in San Quirico d’Orcia already. I will ask the hotel whether I can change to the next day. In case that I can’t change my booking, is it possible to make the first day trip finish at San Quirico d’Orcia? Is it to tight schedule? (drive from Pitigliano to San Quirico d’Orcia without stopping)
Thank you very much for your help.

I’m happy you found my info about the route from Rome Tuscany useful
Your first day is quite full of things to see! I would actually spend the night in the beautiful area of Pitigliano so to have more time for exploring and then drive on the scenic road to San Quirico the next day.
I imagine you’re passing from Cortona on your way back from Florence to Rome your last day,
I remain at your disposal,
have a great holiday,
elena from Florence
Thank you so much Elena.I have one more question.I found this website.http://www.parcodellavaldorcia.com/en/itinerari.aspI'm interested in route “From Ripa d’Orcia to Castiglione d’Orcia” but I couldn’t find information of transportation. Do you have an idea how it would be, by car, by bicycle or by walk?
Here I am, sorry for the delay.
Actually the site does not say that, but speaks about “sentieri”- paths, so I suppose the itineraries are meant to be done on foot or by bicycle.
Let me know if you need any more help,
elena
