Italy 10 day Road Trip
Ciao Elena!
My wife and me are planning a 10 day road trip in Italy this coming June. We are thinking of spending about 6 or 7 days in Tuscany, obviously following your recommendations on routes and accommodations. Nevertheless, we still have 3 or 4 more days to consider on our itinerary. We were thinking of visiting another region in Italy such as driving up the Italian Riviera to Milan so we could visit Cinque Terre, Portofino, etc, so we can enjoy the ocean after spending 1 week inland in Tuscany.
What do you think???

First, let’s have a look at your week in Tuscany. Among the most scenic drives of Tuscany is the Via Chiantigiana road from Florence to Siena, and the Via Cassia, from Siena to Rome. Both run on very ancient routes, read more here.
How to plan a week in Tuscany? I would choose 2 different to stay, maybe one in San Gimignano or Chianti and one in Val d ‘Orcia south of Siena. Both areas are full of beautiful landscape, great food, enchanting hill towns, and curvy roads.
I agree with your idea to drive up the Italian Riviera to Milan so to visit the scenic Cinque Terre, one of the most enchanting destinations of Italy.
