I have traveled to Italia many times but it is my first time in Tuscany. So I like to know where\’s the better village-city to stay ,because I want to be close(relatively close) to all the big attraction…Florence,San Gimignano,Pisa ,sienna ,Viaregio etc…I don\’t want to drive to much hours…My trip is planned for June 18-24 most probably. We are two couples (40 years old). And we will travel without kids.We also want to visit a different place every day….Thanks in advance!!!
If this is your first time to Tuscany, be sure you will all love it!
A beautiful village that is relatively close to all the classic attractions in Tuscany is San Gimignano, the famous hill towns by medieval towers. As you’d like to reach Pisa and destinations on the coast like Viareggio, I think San Gimignano will work as a great home base thanks to its central location in the region. From there you can start exploring the many fantastic Tuscan sights; Florence, Siena, Chianti, Val d’Orcia, Pisa, Lucca, Viareggio and many more…
As I think San Gimignano is a great spot to explore Tuscany I’ve written a post on that with a list of the best day trips to make from there…the longest trip will be a maximum of one hour and a half car distance. On the article you’ll find a map with the suggested day trips and the distance to reach them.
You may stay in one of the many lovely properties right outside the city’s walls, so to not have problems with car parking, considering that the historic center of San Gimignano is a limited traffic area. Let me know if you’d like me to suggest some places to stay.
Another area that can work great is Chianti, east of San Gimignano, take a look at this dedicated blog’s post.
Let me know if you need any more help,
Buon Viaggio and happy planning!
