How to plan Tuscany base

Hi,
I will be retiring in May. My wife and I would like to spend June in Tuscany. We would love to rent a car and stay in a centrally located farmhouse and travel around using the farmhouse accommodations as home base. I have been researching Tuscany on the internet and have succeeded in totally confusing myself. Which province would be ideal as a home base? Chianti, Siena Volterra? How do you make a choice if you have never been there? Something centrally located, comfortable with a swimming pool. I guess that’s all of my requirements. Help

Ciao David, thanks a lot for asking my advice on my Blog dedicated to traveling to Tuscany I’ve actually dedicated many posts about how to choose the best home base to explore the best of Tuscany and its many attractions. The most important thing to take a decision is related to having a car or not to tour around. As you will have a car, that is the best way to discover the region and its scenic landscapes, then the best base I always suggest is Siena and its surrounding countryside. So staying in one of the many beautiful farmhouses in the area is the best choice
So make Siena and it wonderful Val d’Orcia countryside your base in Tuscany
