Best hotels in Siena and Lucca

my husband and I are planning a two week trip to Tuscany june15 -July 2 2015. We have rented an apartment for 5 days at the end of our trip in florence. We have been to italy and loved the small towns around Siena . We also loved siena   We would like to experience Italian life so we think we would like to base ourselves maybe in siena and lucca   Any help with planning , choosing hotels 4 or 5 star  would be wonderful   Thank you

The small towns around Siena are among my favorites!
 
When you say that you’d like to base yourselves in Siena and Lucca, I imagine you mean their amazing historic centers!
 
I do love Siena and Lucca! Very different from each other yet each with a unique charm. I live near Lucca and I go there really very often! the shops of Lucca are beautiful.
 
In Siena the best hotel I recommend is undoubtedly the 5 star Hotel Continental, really amazing The rooms and the views over the town are wonderful.
 
In Lucca, within the massive medieval walls, I recommend Hotel Noblesse and Hotel Palazzo Alexander.
