Looking for Place to stay in Tuscany for 7 days 11-8 to 11-15

My husband and I are coming in for my 40th birthday. I am going to follow most of the 7 day plan in Tuscany on this website minus Florence since we are flying into Rome.
I am looking for a family run place to stay. Somewhere I can meet locals and feel a bit more at home instead of staying in a hotel. Maybe rent a place by the week. I don’t want to spend a fortune on a villa but I also don’t want the other extreme and get soothing super cheap to save money. Possibly a B&B or a small apartment. Would really appreciate any suggestions.    Thank you, Tatiana

I’m very happy you’re going to follow my 7 day plan in Tuscany 
How many places are you considering as your base? One or more? Where would you prefer to stay?
Among the many charming family run places to stay, I can recommend La Casa di Adelina B&B and Locanda del Loggiato, both in Val d’Orcia, and Locanda Viani, charming B&B in San Gimignano.
