Hi Elena-so glad to stumble upon your blog here!! Thanks for being so helpful…my husband will be in Siena for 3 days in October the year & can’t wait!! I’m booking a private driver for 1 day…what should we see? We love good food-wine & shopping (local markets etc.) Should we do Chianti or Brunello & what towns should we NOT MISS? We’re staying in Siena & will have 2 solid days to play there so this won be an “excursion day” & we don’t want to miss anything!! It’s too much to research I need help LOL HEELLPPPP!!
Also any restaurants favs or wineries we shouldn’t miss…let me know! Also I haven’t booked my car service yet-if you have a contact I’d use them on your behalf if you suggest we do- We’re from New Orleans & love food & drinks & fun!! THANK YOU!!!
I love Siena! the city is so beautiful and peculiar! I often suggest to use Siena as a base in Tuscany, as its location is strategic to visit exceptional sights and areas of Tuscany, from Chianti to the famous San Gimignano, to the amazing Val d’Orcia and its scenic hills and villages. As a private driver based in Siena I recommend is Luca Garrapa of Hills and Roads.
All the territory surrounding Siena offers so much to visit! It’s not easy to choose, though I would recommend visiting the area of the Brunello wine and all the Val d’Orcia region! a real paradise for food and wine lovers! I suggest you make Val d’Ocia, including Montalcino, Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, and possibly Montepulciano, while you should take a look at my list of the sights not to be missed from Siena. Maybe you could visit the wonderful San Gimignano and other great sight of the Chianti area on a second day?
There are so many beautiful places in Val d’Orcia! For wine tastings I love Ciacci Piccolomini, set in a beautiful setting with the possibility to enjoy wine from a terrace and Fattoria Poggio Grande. However, there are countless of wineries you’ll meet everywhere.
Finally, take a look at my complete guide to Siena, its attractions and the best sights surrounding it
I remain at your disposal for any other question!
Have a great day! elena from Florence
