Hi Elena,
Great website and info.
I know some of the info I am asking may actually be already on site as have gone through a few Q&A’s.
I am travelling with my wife to Italy (4th time 1st to Tuscany) and are planning on visiting Tuscany this time. We will be driving from Rome. (will use your Rome to Florence guide post to see a few things on way).
From research so far, this is a short plan as of now following the road…and would like your opinion on if I have missed something out and a couple of other questions:
Total Trip = 8days/7 nights from 18th Sep.
– Rome we have been to before and will spend first 2 nights there.
Day 1+2: Rome
Day 3: pick up rental car and Drive to Siena and day and there.
Day 4: spend day Siena and then drive to San Gimignano and spend night there.
Day 5: San Gimignano and then drive Florence and night there.
Day 6: Florence+chianti region: day and night.
Day 7: Florence+Chianti region+Pisa
Day 8:drive back Rome for flight back
Questions:
1) Do I need to amend any of the above?
2) I heard driving to Florence and parking is a nightmare so should I leave car somewhere else or just find hotel with parking?
3) Living/working in Dubai we both would like to see the cultural aspects of towns/villages, ie we love the food, history, greenery, and tasting of some wine of course.
Appreciate your opinion.

The first time to Tuscany? I’m sure you will love it!
Your plan seems ok, just let me give you some more tips.
How many nights are you staying in Florence, 3 nights? Driving in Florence can actually be chaotic because of all of the traffic, so you may leave the car at a parking right outside the town’s center, or choose a hotel with parking if you’re ok with diving.
Florence can be visited on foot or using public transportation (Taxi or bus), and you may still visit Pisa by a fast train from Florence Santa Maria Novella train station. Of course to tour all other sights of Tuscany, you need the car.
As you’d like to see the cultural aspects of Tuscan towns and villages, and you love the food, history, greenery, and tasting of some wine, keep in mind that the most beautiful villages and the most precious wines are to be found in Val d’Orcia and in Chianti.
Val d’Orcia is famous for its Brunello di Montalcino red wine and villages like Pienza, Montalcino, and Montepulciano are amazing. Chianti also has lovely small villages and great wines. Here are some of my suggestions for great wineries in both areas.
As you’re driving from Rome and will use my Rome to Florence guide post, you’ll meet these fantastic destinations on the way.

Raj GohilHi Elena,Thanks for quick response! Counting down for trip now!! 🙂 Will take comments on board especially the parking outside Florence. May find hotel with parking outside Florence. Going to try win some wifey points and squeeze in Marenello trip!!! 🙂 not a big problem but may sacrifice some of “my” time to do a cooking class!!! Help!! 🙂 Keen to stop off nice villages on way and try some local Italian food!

Villas/accommodation:Can you recommend any nice, chic, villa or boutique hotel to stay in around Tuscany. Thinking of San G area for 4 nights and another different area for 3/4 nights…Thanks,Raj

Going to Maranello? Fantastic! But I’m sure you will enjoy also the cooking class! at least the great Tuscan food
As for a chic accommodation in San Gimignano area, I recommend the boutique country inn Locanda dell’Artista, with spectacular views over the towers.
As your second location I would choose the Val d’Orcia, where the incredible Hotelito Lupaia near Montepulciano might be an option. Also Relais la Saracina near Pienza is lovely!
