Hello Tuscany Chic! I have read many of your blog posts and have learned a lot but I would like your opinion with an itinerary including wine tastings and coastal town. We are traveling from Venice to Tuscany and then to Rome in July. We are renting a car while in Tuscany. We have 6 nights in Tuscany. We are in our 30s and live near the beach in Florida so we like fun towns with beautiful beaches and nightlife. I look forward to reading your suggestions.
Happy my blog posts were of help!
Tuscany is a fantastic place to be for a honeymoon You will fall in love with the place!
Having the car to move around will allow you great freedom and the possibility to get the most out of the region.
Let’s start with the choice of a possible coastal town with beautiful beaches and nightlife. All the coast of Tuscany, from north to south offers beautiful beaches, here is my list of the most beautiful beaches of Tuscany, I especially love the southern coast of Tuscany, especially the town of Castiglion della Pescaia, and the scenic Monte Argentario in Maremma.
However, since you’re looking for some nightlife, the best place to be is the Versilia area north of Tuscany. Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are fun towns on the coast, offering long sandy beaches, fantastic bathing establishments, and a lot of nightlife!
And here follows my suggested 6 day honeymoon itinerary in Tuscany:
–4 Days in Viareggio or Forte dei Marmi
–2 Days in Chianti or the Val d’ Orcia for wine tastings
For the first part of your holiday base in the lively towns of Viareggio or Massa, and in addition to enjoying your time at the beach or having fun at night, I also suggest you make some day trips to the surrounding area. You may well visit the thermal and lively town of Montecatini Terme, and visit the beautiful Pisa and Lucca.
You intend to stay just on one place? In case you’re willing to pass 1 or nights somewhere else in Tuscany, I suggest you move to the famous wine area of Tuscany, known as the Chianti region. This is the best place to enjoy some great wine tasting in one of the many wineries. While in Chianti or on your way to Chianti, take the chance to visit the amazing Renaissance town of Florence, a must see visit for its art, culture, food, people, and shops!
Some of my favorite wineries in Chianti area Badia a Coltibuono, Badia a Passignano, and Villa Medicea di Lilliano. This last one can be great also as your accommodation.
While in Chianti, if you like, take the car to explore Tuscany: the chianti itself, the wonderful medieval town of Siena (town of the famous Palio race), and the Natural Park of Val d’Orcia, a real paradise for its unique landscape and enchanting hill towns.
Here is a list of the day trips you could enjoy from Chianti.
If you have any more questions, just ask again!
Have a nice day,
Elena from Florence
