Visiting Tuscany for 7 days
We are interested in visiting Tuscany in the 3rd week of April for about 7 day. We will be coming from Paris and leaving from Rome. We have visited Florence a few times along with Pisa and would like to visit the area south of Florence. We are interested in renting a car and maybe staying at 2 or 3 nights in each place and doing day trips from there.

Hi! One week is the right time to enjoy the best of Tuscany!
As you’ve already visited Florence and Pisa, this time you will have time to explore some of the best destinations in Tuscany, especially in its southern part. Considering you’re renting a car you can enjoy a great road itinerary on your way to Rome.
Here is the travel itinerary and accommodations I suggest:
2 days in Chianti:
Chianti is the famous wine area between Florence and Siena. The landscape is enchanting and all to explore. In this article on the blog you can find interesting ideas as to what visit in the area. Great accommodations in Chianti are the Castle of Meleto and Palazzo Squarcialupi.
2 days in Siena:
While here visit Siena itself, Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, and possibly Volterra. You can stay right in the heart of Siena at the lovely Campo Regio Relais, or near Siena at the suggestive Castello delle Quattro Torra.
2 days in Val d’Orcia:
The Orcia valley is the fabulous countryside south of Siena. The place is like a paradise, dreaming landscape, beautiful hill towns, breathtaking vistas. I would base in the suggestive village of Bagno Vignoni, a tiny and very peculiar ancient village having a huge Renaissance pool as its main square! Here you can enjoy fantastic thermal baths while staying at the charming B&B Locanda del Loggiato. There’s a lot to visit here; Montalcino, the Abbey of Sant’Antimo, Pienza, Montepulciano…and much more
On your way to Rome you’re going to find amazing sights, I suggest you stop to visit incredible villages like Pitigliano, Orvieto, and Civita di Bagnoregio, among the most impressive villages in Italy.
You can get further ideas for your itinerary by reading this one week itinerary in Tuscany, and the road trip from Rome to Tuscany and back.
