Hello
We are planning a week’s romantic honeymoon in Tuscany and need some help with the itinerary. We wold like to visit Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Lucca and Pisa, as well as doing some wine tasting and sampling some excellent Tuscan cuisine. Any help much welcome

A trip to Tuscany is great for a honeymoon! You will really love the place
Here is the romantic itinerary I suggest for your Tuscan stay:
1. Stay in Florence 3 nights
I would stay in Florence 3 nights, 2 full days visiting Florence’s historic center and its countless sights, while use the 3rd day to explore the Chianti area south of Florence and some of its wineries. Romantic hotels to stay can be the JK Place or Hotel Brunelleschi.
2. Drive to Pisa/Lucca
You can visit both Pisa and Lucca in one day, you may spend the morning in Pisa and then move to the near Lucca, that is lovely and perfect to pass a romantic overnight. A lovely place to stay in Lucca is the luxury Hotel Noblesse, located in the very heart of the town’s center.
3. Visit Siena, Monteriggioni, and San Gimignano and then drive to Borgo Santo Pietro, an incredibly beautiful and charming place near the suggestive San Galgano Abbey.
I love Borgo Santo Pietro!
4. Visit to Val d ‘Orcia
I love the Val d’Orcia! Its unique landscape and endless views, its picturesque hill towns, castles, farmhouses….and amazing food and wines I would pass there one night or two as there’s a lot to visit here. A beautiful and very romantic place where you could stay to tour the area and its sights is the lovely Bagno Vignoni, small and very characteristic village with fantastic thermal springs. Hotel and Spa Adler Thermae is a stunning place to stay!
As for wine tastings in Tuscany, here are my favorite wineries in the region:
Badia a Coltibuono in Chianti: The location of this ancient abbey is beautiful; here you can have great wine tastings and enjoy excellent Tuscan food at their restaurant.
Badia a Passignano in Chianti: Set in a stunning location amid Chianti scenic landscape, you can taste your wine in very ancient cellars and again have a great lunch or dinner at the renowned osteria.
Castle of Brolio in Chianti: This wonderful castle in Chianti, famous for being the house of the famous Barone Ricasoli, that invented the formula for the Chianti Classico wine, is great for wine tastings, while you may also pay a visit to the castle and its museum.
In Val d’Orcia, famous for great wines like the Brunello of Montalcino and the Nobile of Montepucliano, I recommend the following wineries:
Ciacci Piccolomini: The location of this prestigious winery is near the beautiful hill town of Montalcino, famous for its Brunello red wine. The winery boasts a beautiful panoramic terrace for wine tastings.
Fattoria Poggio Grande: A typically Tuscan farm producing excellent wines.
As far as restaurants you may have a look at some recommendations I make on the blog, but Tuscany has plenty of great places to eat!
Tuscany has so many different sights that you’ll be spoilt for choices as to the things to do while here, you can have a look at this list of the things to enjoy in Tuscany.
