If you are looking for a truly unique place in Tuscany offering top luxury accommodations and services, do go for Borgo Santo Pietro, refined country chic hotel located south of Siena, near the medieval hill village of Chiusdino.
Once a sanctuary for tired pilgrims walking along the Via Francigena on their way to Rome, Borgo Santo Pietro estate, now offers exclusive hospitality in a contest of rare beauty.
Hidden in the verdant Tuscan countryside, the Borgo is a charismatic place where nature meets luxury.
Jeanette and Claus Thottrup, the hotel’s owners, have turned what was little more than a ruin into one of the most stylish accommodations in Tuscany.
An Experience for all Senses
Staying at the Borgo is an authentic experience for all senses! Wander down the beautiful blooming gardens full of genuine fruits and scented herbs, relax in the wonderful holistic spa to release any stress, practice one of the many activities, enjoy superb food and wine dining at the hotel’s restaurant or having a romantic dinner in the candle lit grotto.
Every aspect of the Borgo is characterized by the greatest attention to details, and that is especially reflected in the beautiful and luxurious suites and elegant bedrooms.
Refined and precious furnishings, hand painted walls, large spaces and private gardens will make your stay unforgettable.
A Unique Location amid nature and legendary places
The names of the borgo’s rooms, such as Via del Pellegrino Suite and San Galgano, connect with the history of the outstanding surrounding territory.
The location of the Borgo amid a wonderful and green Tuscan countryside is essential to create that sense of calm, silence and relaxation that makes it the ideal place to escape from the chaos of everyday life.
Through the wooded valley, just a short walk from the Hotel, lies the legendary Abbey of San Galgano and the authentic Sword in the Stone.
Close by is the beautiful hill town of Chiusdino, from which to enjoy spectacular views over Valle Serena and the hotel itself, and east the Borgo is the lovely hamlet of Monticiano, all to discover. Siena with its irresistible sights is just half an hour away.
Escape the stress of daily routine and immerse yourself in a very special place in Tuscany, an inimitable intimate country retreat!
Hi Elena, I just found your site while looking for perfect hill towns in Tuscany. My husband and I have started planning a trip to Italy. October 19-31. We’ve been before but never to Rome and the Amalfi coast so that’s where the majority of our trip will be. We have 9 days. But now I’m thinking a few days in Tuscany would be amazing! Maybe visit towns we haven’t been to before… Do a culinary class… It’s just so beautiful!!! Would you recommend flying into Florence? We’ve never been. Or Rome and drive up? We would just have 2 nights there. We’ve been to Siena and Orvieto, civita, San gimi, Assisi. Thanks for your advise! Heather
Hi Heather,
Thanks for contacting me.
I’m happy to give some advice.
If you’ve never been to Florence, absolutely pay a visit to it, even a brief stop it’s worth doing 🙂
You may fly into Florence and if you don’t mind driving rent a car from there and start explore Tuscany while heading south to Rome. If might pas from the Chianti area, famous for its landscape, hill towns, good food and wine. Then I would absolutely visit the south of Siena and its unique amazing villages like Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano in the area known as Val d’Orcia, a real paradise with stunning hills and much more. Then, before heading on to Rome drive to reach the so called città del tufo, Pitigliano, Sorano, and Sovana, among the most incredible and fascinating ancient villages in Italy. If you see you’ve not so much time, then skip Chianti but passing through it.
These scenic drives in Tuscany and my suggested road trip from Rome to Tuscany and back can be of further inspiration. In case you need suggestions for a cooking class, let me know.
Enjoy planning your holiday,
elena
